The Kingbridge Centre is recognized with a Managed Forest Designation – in collaboration with Forests Ontario – through the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP). The program mandates active stewardship of the 60 acre forest and involves seasonal maintenance to ensure that ecosystem diversity is supported using regenerative practices.
The team at Kingbridge has been working to manage, maintain and proliferate the forest canopy in strategic alignment with the Federal government’s goal of planting 2 billion trees. In 2021, Kingbridge installed a native tree nursery to target the proliferation of species at risk and extend our impact beyond the property. To date we have planted over 8,500 trees on the property and seeded over 20,000 seeds of Hemlock, Silver and Red Maple, Staghorn Sumac and White Cedar into our beds.
Carbon Storage and Sequestration
At the Kingbridge Centre, we enhance carbon storage through thoughtful bed design and integrated forestry practices. By testing soil carbon, microbial diversity, pH, moisture, and density before and during planting, we ensure healthier soil, stronger plant growth, and long-term ecosystem benefits.
